Know Who I Am: The Many Names of GOD

Upon our acceptance of Jesus Christ in our lives and as we grow as Christians, we become aware of the many names of God. Today, we will focus on the name: “Jehovah Mephalti”

Knowing Jehovah Melphati: The Lord My Deliverer

Positioned & Postured to Receive God’s Deliverance

In the book of Psalm, Chapter 18, the psalmist David expressed his heart of gratitude to the Lord, for coming to his rescue and delivering him from all of his enemies, and the power of Saul. David gave thanks to the Lord in verses 1-3, declaring that God had been his strength, his rock, his fortress, his deliverer, his God, his shield, his salvation, his stronghold and the one in which he sought refuge. He identified that God had been faithful to him in answering his call of deliverance and saving him from his enemies.

David already knew that because of his righteousness, his heart and mind’s posture toward fulfilling God’s will and following His commands, that God would be faithful to deliver him in his time of trouble. He knew that God was his present help and that he had the power and authority to dismantle the enemy, hence being able to see the salvation of his lord manifested in his life. David’s confidence that the Lord would be Jehovah Melphati and deliver him, was directly connected to him living righteously in the sight of God. We see this in Psalm 18:20-24

20The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; he repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands.

21For I have kept the ways of the Lord

and have not turned from my God to wickedness.

22Indeed, I let all his ordinances guide me and have not disregarded his statutes.

23I was blameless toward him and kept myself from my iniquity.

24So the LORD repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

Psalm 18:20-24

Faith for His Deliverance in the Face of the Enemy

In Daniel Chapter 3, the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego, were threatened to be thrown in a fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar, for refusing to worship the golden image he made. In Daniel 3:16-17 the boys stood their ground and displayed their faith in the Lord, despite what they were about to face. They had faith that their Lord and God would surely be Jehovah Melphati, and deliver them from the furnace and the control of King Nebuchadnezzar.

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we don’t need to give you an answer to this question.

17 If the God we serve exists, then he can rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he can rescue us from the power of you, the king.

Daniel 3:16-17

Indeed, God did rescue the three Hebrew boys from the fiery furnace without harm, a burn or blemish. When you remain faithful to God, blameless with clean hands, a pure heart and complete devotion to Him, He will deliver and defend you. God is loyal to His anointed children and gives them victory, freeing them from their enemies. Psalm 18:32 states, “God-he clothes me with strength and makes my way perfect.” So, do not fear, do not be afraid, keep the ways of the Lord, never compromise and live in the favor of God forever and ever. His right hand will uphold you and His wings will cover you from all harm. Trust, believe, live and rejoice in the Lord our God (Yahweh God), for He is faithful to deliver.
