We, at some point or several times in our lives, have been subjected to a spiritual attack from the enemy. Naturally, these attacks may bring about feelings of fear, hopelessness, a lack of confidence or even defeat. This is exactly what the enemy wants to achieve, in his attempt to displace us from the face of the Lord and tear us from the will, plan and purpose that He has set forward for us all.
We must realize and remember that the attack of the enemy is an attack on the spirit and mind. Our mind is the starting point of a thought, this thought may lead to emotions and feelings, which lead to a choice and ultimately action. If we let the attack of the enemy prevail against us, no matter how severe the attack, we have let go of the Faith that we have in our Lord, God and savior Jesus Christ. Once we fall in our minds, we have dismissed the very acts of Jesus Christ that provides us our Salvation. This is what the enemy desires so that we will turn against our God.
Psalm 27:2-3 (NIV) 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident
Instead, let us take heed to the words of David in Psalm 27:2-3, that we will not fear when the attacks come but we will be confident because we know that our Lord has reign and rule over Satan, the enemy. Anyone or anything working for him to come against us will stumble and fall. A portion of Proverbs 23:7 tells us that as you think, you will become. So, avoid the negative thoughts that may be brought on by these attacks and instead do as Paul says in Philippians chapter 4.
Philippians 4:6-8 (NIV) 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.
This holds true even in the midst of attacks from the enemy, so be encouraged and have confidence that Satan can’t prevail against you child of God.
