Why Not You?

SUP With Me: Words of Inspiration

John 15:16 KJV

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

As young beings in childhood and throughout life, we learn that we have choices. We have a choice of what food we want to eat, what clothes we want to wear, what car we want to drive, where we want to take a vacation, who we want to become for a career and the list goes on. This often makes it challenging when one decides to live life in Jesus and transition into their Christian walk. Why you say? We have spent our lives from tender ages learning how to make choices on so many things, that we may have a hard time accepting that we are actually “chosen” by God, by Jesus himself. He has just been waiting for us to realize that He is the one who has appointed us to represent Him and to spread His gospel by bringing forth fruit, fruit that should remain.

In John 15, just as Jesus gave this insight to His disciples in this current time in scripture, it applies to us today. We also become disciples of Christ once we accept Him in our lives and in our hearts. We have to lose sight of self and let go of the mentality that “I can do that on my own” or “I’ll make the choice without consulting God.” In Christ Jesus, we have an advocate for ourselves to the Father, God, and whatsoever we ask in Jesus name, He will give us. Let us not be distracted by all the things that we can make choices on in the world but let us be led by the true plan and purpose that God wants for our lives. We may lose acceptance from the world when we decide to follow the ways of the Lord and lead a life that He has ordained. Have hope, as John 15:19 states:

19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Live knowing that there is greater reward in walking with Jesus than that of the world. Accept Him into your heart if you haven’t and accept the love and promises of walking with Christ.

Romans 10:9-10

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
