God’s Will for Our Life: Living to His Standard

SUP With Me: Words of Inspiration

One common question as believers is, “What is God’s will for my life?” Though we are all individuals, choosing to live for God with many different lives, interests and hobbies, one thing that is clear in God’s word is that in all we do, we must Glorify His name. Yes, we are all dispersed across God’s land, but even still, we are to fulfill His purpose as stated in Ephesians 5:1Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children.

We are to be united as the body of Christ Jesus in sharing His Love and living according to His ways. Colossians 3:12-14 makes this very clear for us to understand:

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,

13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive.

14 Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

The beauty of choosing to live for God, is He has set a standard and has provided a blue print for us to be successful at living life as believers in Him. He has also made it known in His word the difference of living to His standard and those that choose not to. This is stated in Ephesians 5:5 “For know and recognize this: Every sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, who is an idolater, does not have an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.” We cannot live to the desires of our flesh, but we must submit ourselves to God’s Holy standard of living.

So, for the believer and the one deciding to come to Jesus, know that God has set the standard for Holy living and it is not one in which the world understands. However, it is one that being a spiritual being and representation of God as His Light in the world, we must be willing to uphold at all cost. We are God’s children; we are His imitators here in His earth. Be careful to represent Christ Jesus well, not in your own strength, but in the strength that He is so gracious to provide!
