Know Who I Am: The Many Names of GOD

Upon our acceptance of Jesus Christ in our lives and as we grow as Christians, we become aware of the many names of God. Today, we will focus on the name: “Jehovah Bore”

Knowing Jehovah Bore: The Lord Creator

Colossians 1:13-17

13 He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.

14 In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

16 For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created through him and for him.

17 He is before all things, and by him all things hold together.

Colossians 1:13-17

We know and identify God as the creator of the heavens, earth and all creation (Genesis 1:1). According to Colossians 1:17, it is truly through God that all things are held together and without Him, nothing can be sustained.

God desires to dwell in us now, through His spirit. As we submit our hearts to Him, we invite Him in to have Lordship over us, to rule and reign over our lives. This is the importance of understanding that through God, all things, including us, were made. Our worship and praise are to be exclusively to Him, therefore we worship the creator and not the creation, that He may receive all of the glory. (Romans 1:25)

Romans 1:25

25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served what has been created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever. Amen.

Throughout the bible, there are numerous scriptures that speak to our creator. We are encouraged to acknowledge and reverence Him as being Jehovah Bore. Isaiah 43:7 states, “everyone who bears my name is created for my glory. I have formed them; indeed, I have made them.” God reminded the people of Israel of His power as their Lord and God, their Savior, declaring them as His own. Within Isaiah 43:10, God says, “no God was formed before me and there will be none after me.” This speaks to Jehovah Bore’s sovereignty over His creation, being the entire earth and all that dwells therein. In Isaiah 43, verse 11, God reiterates that He is the Lord and that besides Him, there is no Savior. He not only created everything that exists, but He is the one and only God and way to salvation. God has made salvation available to all through Jesus Christ; accepting Him is the only way to gain eternal life (John 14:6). This results in His Lordship over our lives, meaning we release our desires in exchange for His will and commands. In verse 13, He states, “Also, from today on I am he alone, and none can rescue from my power. I act, and who can reverse it?” Jehovah Bore has all power and authority; what He has done is permanent and no one or anything can change or reverse this. In this, we as His people can gain great reassurance that every word of God is true and will come to pass.

Be encouraged and follow God in all your ways, remembering that He is the creator, Jehovah Bore. Subject yourself to the truth of His word, living in faith and obedience to Him. Know that God desires to dwell within you, as you are His divine creation, created by Him to worship and glorify His name.
