Be careful not to exchange your purity for worldly pleasures. For all the things of this world will pass away, but the word of God will always remain (paraphrased Matthew 24:35).

Be careful of what you give your ears and eyes to because whatever it is will draw you. Therefore, if your ears are not following the voice of God then they are going to follow another voice that is apart from God. If your eyes are not seeing clearly and your vision is off focus, then you will be in pursuit of the wrong things opposite from God’s will for your life.

Remaining in God’s will takes sobriety and vigilance, effort and intentionality. The reason for this is because anything and anyone can come and compete for your attention and affection drawing you away from God.

How do I safeguard my heart and ensure that I am not being drawn away even if what appears before me seems good?

Your devotion and time spent with God is the portal; the connection to receive direction, redirection, and correction. Your time with God creates an atmosphere of clarity and serenity. Having this daily connection is vital because we live in an external world that surrounds us with many enticing things. If we are not careful, then what we see and hear can draw away our attention and affection from God.

Your effort and intentionality reflect a daily lifestyle of worship to God. You make the decision to only allow fruitful, encouraging, truthful, and Godly input into your eye and ear gates. You must remember that your heart and mind hold on to what enters it through these gates. What enters your eyes and ears will influence and infiltrate your thoughts and drive your motives (whether they are pure or unpure). The very things you think will be reflected by the words you speak and the actions that follow.

Philippians 2:5 “Let the mind of Christ Jesus be in you.” Jesus came in the likeness of man but had the mindset of humility. He gave himself to a life of obedience with acts that pleased God the Father. Jesus was in the world with many enticing things and people around. However, Jesus remained committed and submitted through obedience to the will of His heavenly Father.

“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
Philippians 2:13

–Our affections must be toward God so we can fulfill His will for His Glory.

Stay rooted in the word of God and thrive as a child of God!

We pray that this post gives you encouragement and focus for living a life that Glorifies God, for He is the creator of all man and we are His creation. He desires relationship with us that we may live this life with Him and not apart from Him. Our life is better since we’ve decided to live it for Christ, and we want the same for you!

SUP With Me: Words of Inspiration

Our relationship with Christ Jesus requires sobriety and vigilance.

We must be intentional to live each day devoted to the Lord and His will for our lives.

Remaining submitted and committed to God is sustained through the intentional posture of seeking Him.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” -Matthew 5:6

What is a life that is acceptable to God?

A life acceptable to God; one that lives in humility, gentleness being patient and bearing with one another in love. (scripture reference: Ephesians 4:1-2)

Without the demonstration of God’s love, you cannot live a life that is pleasing to Him. This is why we must present ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice, Holy and pure, that His love and will can be manifested through us.

There is a standard that has been set for the people of God and those that love Him will honor His Holy word.

Ephesians 5:3-5 provides a clear understanding of how we as God’s children are to present ourselves as a Holy and Living sacrifice before the Lord, which is acceptable in His sight.

Ephesians 5:3-5

³But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

⁴Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

⁵For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

How do we live in Holiness and Righteousness as God desires?

In Christ Jesus we are born again and transformed in our mind. The old self and ways of living are now submitted to God in exchange for His will for living, thinking, and being. Our old self was corrupt by deceitful desires that drew us away from God. Now, when we accept Christ Jesus into our hearts, we are accepting His truth. He transforms our minds giving a new way of thinking that aligns with His purpose and desire for our lives. (scripture reference: Ephesians 4: 20-24)

You are now a new creation having a new mind and new desires, for you have been crafted to be like God living in true righteousness and holiness. We are no longer orphans, but we indeed have a Heavenly Father who has made a way to equip us to live in Holiness, Righteousness, truth, and victory while under His protection. We have the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us making it possible to live just as God has purposed us as His people.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank you for your word. Please meet us in our weakness and give us strength to be faithful and devoted followers of you. Help us to prioritize our relationship with you above all others. As we seek you, may we receive your will and direction while responding in obedience for the purpose of our lives. Strengthen us to remain steadfast in living the life you ordained for us to live and completing the things you equipped us to do. Help us to place your will at the forefront of our initiatives. Let us pursue life in all Holiness and Righteousness, to the Glory of your name!

His Love Connects

God’s Love corrected man through letting us know that we are sinners in need of a savior, that savior being Jesus Christ, His Son.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 (NIV)

Jesus’ Love directs by informing us that He is the way the truth and the life, and that there is know way to the father except through Him (John 14:6).

Jesus’ Love connects us with the will of God as Jesus himself was the divine intervention, manifested in the flesh on earth. His sacrifice, giving His life up for sinful men like us, has connected us through spirit to the father for those who choose to believe. Through Jesus Christ’s sacrificial demonstration of love, He gave us the gift of eternal salvation. Therefore, the truth of Love is Jesus the Christ, sent for humanity, to reveal God’s unconditional love for us.
