SUP With Me: Words of Inspiration

It can be very easy to allow impure motives and thoughts enter into the mind and heart if we are not careful, remaining sober and vigilant at all times. Various factors can diminish or taint the desire to stay pure in thoughts and actions. Some of these factors could be the input that we allow others to provide into our situations. It could be the way that we view something without having the correct perspective of what is truly taking place. The truth is that remaining sober and vigilant with a pure heart is critical in safeguarding our heart.

David said in Psalm 51:10-11:

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Psalm 51:10-11 (NKJV)

He understood the importance and need of keeping his sobriety and vigilance because there where so many things taking place that could easily skew his perception and taint his heart from pursuing the will of God with all purity and righteous motive.

Another truth is that there is only one who has the authority, right, and privilege to rule our heart and that is God. God’s will, His motive, plan and design are without flaws, it is perfect. His plan is pure and purposed. Therefore, in Colossians 3:15 we are encouraged by Paul:

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” The Lord knows what is best and with Him we will not fail!

Colossians 3:15

When we do as Colossians 3:17 states, 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Then we can ensure that our motives are pure, our heart is in the right place, our mind is focused, and our peace will be maintained to accomplish the will of God and not that of man or ourselves.

Safeguard Your Heart and may the will of God forever be your heart’s desire and motive in all that you pursue to the Glory of God’s great name!

Until next time be blessed and remain sober and vigilant.
